In my second term, I will continue the work we started:

Making Lake County a Safe, Healthy and Affordable Community for All.

  • We all want our communities and environment to be safe and clean. I respect everyone's right to choose how to live. These are values I embrace everyday.

Expanding our Forest Preserves and Protecting the Environment

  • As one of three County Board members on the Rt. 53 commission I want to see the corridor repurposed into a greenway for everyone’s enjoyment. I’d also like to see natural flood control systems; restoration of wetlands, prairies and forests; and sustainable transportation alternatives that reduce our carbon footprint.

Fixing our Roads and Railroad Crossings to Relieve Traffic Congestion

  • I work toward full funding and construction of an at-grade crossing for the Canadian National Railroad at Tre. 120 and Tr. 83. (We already have a $30 million state commitment, thanks to Sen Bush). I am working on improving traffic flows, bike paths and public transportation. I want to relieve congestion in every possible way while creating jobs. Sustainable transportation means smart highways and more public transportation options like our new Ride Lake County paratransit program.

Property Tax Reform

  • I will continue to work with Springfield to reform property taxation and lower tax bills while providing more funding to schools and supporting local government. I have worked tirelessly to gain federal, state and private grants to offset the local tax burden and curb unnecessary government spending.

I’m happy to speak with you, homeowners, community, church, or student groups. I can be reached at JohnWasik6@gmail.com.
